Drive Congress Avenue right now and you will hit a wall of construction signs and drive-through lanes. A Culver's opened on West Woolbright Road with butter burgers and a rotating flavor of the day. Dave's Hot Chicken landed at 320 N. Congress Avenue with seven heat levels running up to something called the reaper. Ford's Garage opened its 1920s-service-station-themed burger joint at 365 N. Congress back in June. Pei Wei Asian Kitchen just relocated into a brand-new build at 7375 Boynton Beach Boulevard in August. And by fall, C.R. Chicks, the rotisserie chicken chain that started in Palm Beach in 1992, will open in the Publix-anchored center at the northwest corner of Boynton Beach Boulevard and Jog Road.
That is one part of Boynton Beach, with a cluster of chain restaurants and drive-through options. A few miles east, at the water's edge, Nicholson Muir has earned a second consecutive MICHELIN Guide Florida selection.
The corridor that's optimizing for convenience
This year, national and regional fast-casual brands are opening in new construction along Congress Avenue and the western stretch of Woolbright Road. Pei Wei's regional operations coach put it plainly when the relocated store opened: the brand has "been part of this community for years, and this new location gives us an opportunity to deliver an even better Pei Wei experience." That is a company statement about Pei Wei's relocation.
If you live on the west side of town, this is good news in a specific way. You are getting more of what already existed, faster and closer. C.R. Chicks is worth noting for its Palm Beach roots. It started as a single Palm Beach restaurant in 1992, changed ownership in 2024 under a group led by Jonathan Luther, Jon Luther Sr., and Dan Bowers, and still sources its chicken from a single farm in southern Alabama before slow-roasting it over Brazilian oak. Seven locations total, and Boynton Beach is about to be one of them.
None of this is a bad thing. It is just a specific kind of thing: reliable, repeatable, and built for a car.
Three miles away, a different kind of recognition
Nicholson Muir does not fit anywhere on that list. It is a coastal steakhouse built around Argentine quebracho and natural charcoal, led by Chef James Muir, and it earned its second consecutive year of recognition in the MICHELIN Guide Florida in 2026. It also picked up an OpenTable Diners' Choice award the same year. Nicholson Muir's recognition is another kind of restaurant news for Boynton Beach.
This did not come from nowhere. Prime Catch has been doing dock-and-dine seafood at 700 East Woolbright Road since June 1, 2004, and it was reviewed at the time as the first real upscale dining destination to arrive in Boynton Beach. Zagat named it Best New Restaurant in Palm Beach County after its first year, and it still pulls an OpenTable Top 10 ranking for seafood in the county. Gathering places in downtown Boynton Beach
Downtown Boynton Beach has public gathering spaces and restaurants. Centennial Park and Amphitheater on East Ocean Avenue is the anchor. What this actually means if you already live here
If your routine runs west, along Congress or Jog or Woolbright past the highway, this year gave you more of exactly what you already use. Faster chicken, a new burger option, a wok-fired lunch spot with a nicer dining room. That is a real upgrade to a real routine, and there is nothing wrong with wanting your weeknight dinner to be reliable and five minutes away.
If your routine runs east, toward the water and downtown, Nicholson Muir adds another recognized restaurant to the local dining scene. It earned MICHELIN Guide recognition for a second consecutive year. Prime Catch has served Boynton Beach since 2004.
